Mr. Theron is a self-employed chartered accountant consulting and lecturing in the field of financial modelling.
He served articles with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) and, after qualifying, spent some time with them in London.
He has extensive experience in the building of financial models dating back to 1971, when punched cards were used on mainframe computers.
He has been instrumental in the development of a wide variety of financial models, including the following:
- A 5-year plan for Illings (now Samcor), where he held the position of Corporate Planning manager, embracing the production and sale of Mazda motor cars in South Africa
- A 1-year plan for both BMW South Africa (where he held the position of Financial Controller), involving modelling from the shop floor through to the final sale of the motor cars, and culminating in a set of financial and cash flow statements.
- A 20-30 year projection for the implementation of a water reticulation scheme in Nelspruit, South Africa, for the Development Bank of South Africa
- A 1-year budget model for Bell Equipment Co
- A 10-20 year projection for the establishment of nut and cherry farms for the Industrial Development Corp.
- A number of comprehensive models involving numerous branches, consolidations, and inter-company transactions for public and private companies
- Audits of financial models, including a model developed by Deloitte & Touche for the National Housing Finance Corporation
He has presented many public and in-house financial modelling courses, amongst them courses for the Kuwait Investment Authority (Kuwait), the Queensland Competition Authority (Australia), Brunei Investment Authority (Brunei), Merrill Lynch (Australia), BNP Paribas (Hong Kong), AMBank (Malaysia), General Motors (Thailand), KPMG (South Africa), and Deloitte & Touche (South Africa and New Zealand)

Colin is a chartered accountant, with extensive business experience.
He has occupied various senior management positions in both public and private companies.
He is currently a non executive director of a number of listed and private companies.
He is also Managing Director of GoalFix (Pty) Ltd, a financial management consultancy, which operates in all aspects of corporate finance, and specifically in the arena of corporate performance improvement, financial health assessments, and building of complex financial models.
GoalFix owns and utilises a unique corporate financial analysis and forecasting software program, marketed under the name of "ValueGenerator".
Value Generator has been developed over a period of ten years, and is a highly effective tool used by senior management to improve shareholder returns, evaluate corporate performance or alternative strategic scenarios.
Colin became involved in lecturing and personal executive coaching in 1998 when he presented "Financial Courses for Non-Financial Managers" on behalf of The Mast Consulting Group.
