Face-to-face learning: Revisited

How the wheel turns!

In my previous article – Face-to-Face Learning: Old hat or the future I hopefully expressed clearly my strong support for face to face learning and my reasons therefor.

Simplistically, it’s all about training effectiveness.

The previous article also contained an informative article by Julian Roche, course director at Redcliffe Training.

His closing comment was:

The conclusion? A largely two-speed training world, where those fortunate enough to attend can still benefit enormously from the kind of face-to-face learning that can hone presentation skills, teach technical subjects and provide focused, immediate responses to practical questions.

Other learners must survive on what they can find online.

With the onset of the Covid-19 virus, Goalfix, in line with many other training organisations has been forced to change – or in our case – modilfy the way in which we now deliver face to face training – and of course this involves live webinars.

I have written a few articles about learning and the different methods that are utilised and published one to date. Another one will be published shortly.

Truth be told, the subject matter and the type of training are interlinked and in the case of effective financial modelling training, I humbly suggest the only really effective method is what is described as “meaningful learning.”

What is meaningful learning?

Meaningful learning refers to the concept of learning the subject or topic with a clear and complete understanding of all the related facts, concepts and principles – and with the specific intention of being able to apply what has been learned in a practical sense.

Meaningful learning in today's competitive world holds the key to success.

Success comes from the ability to apply what we have learned.

Once we learned something by the meaningful method with full clarity, we are able to relate that knowledge with every relevant piece of information about that topic in our brain and possess a confidence of utilizing that information properly in our profession.

In fact, our brain is designed for meaningful learning.

Meaningful learning is the process Goalfix uses when we embark on financial modelling training courses.

The method of presentation, supported by practical examples is designed to transfer knowledge and understanding – and underscored by the hands-on approach, ensures that delegates are able to apply what has been learned.

Whilst our experience with presenting live, interactive, instructor led training webinars is limited to date, the feedback from delegates has been most encouraging – and it would appear that little if anything is being lost in the process.

And of course, our training programs can now transcend geographic boundaries. Delegates are no longer limited by their physical location – no longer have to incur travel and accommodation costs – and have a far better usage of their time.

So get on board – we will be delighted to share our webinar process with you – and look forward to hosting you on one of our upcoming courses.

PS. Our course fees have all reduced. We save on costs – and you get the benefit!

Kind regards
